Emery is a town in Emery County, Utah, United States. The population was 308 at the 2000 census.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 308 people, 123 households, and 89 families residing in the town. The population density was 253.7 people per square mile (98.3/km²). There were 140 housing units at an average density of 115.3/sq mi (44.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.73% White, 0.97% Native American, and 1.30% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.97% of the population.
There were 123 households out of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% were non-families. 26.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the town the population was spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 19.2% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $40,469, and the median income for a family was $51,875. Males had a median income of $40,104 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $17,195. About 12.1% of families and 13.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.3% of those under the age of eighteen and 19.3% of those sixty five or over.
